Longueuil, March 30, 2009 – The theme of the Week is “A passion for action”. All over Quebec, it is the week held from April 19th through to the 25th that the various contributions of many of the volunteers will be observed; many fields are involved, such as, hobbies, health, fund raising, youth and childhood activities. Every year, the National Volunteer Week is a unique opportunity to celebrate volunteerism, a free and complimentary gesture withholding such great importance.

At the South Shore Volunteer Center, more than 800 volunteers contribute to the well-being of the community and all over the Montérégie area, they are thousands who give their time and nothing would be the same without them.

It's both a question of passion together with love, that support volunteer achievement. One who gives free time always does so with an open heart. After all, our hearts lead the world and the volunteer's own concern, acts as a witness of our kindness in action. The volunteer proceeds with passion and compassion, knowing that her or his action is always helpful. He steadily dedicates himself with contentment, knowing that the smallest gesture as a pebble bouncing on water, has the power to extend over and throughout.

Through his gesture, each and every person who freely implicates himself contributes to assist the population as a whole. It's a mixture of all of the casual things, together with the more essential ones that add up to make the perceptive human difference.

The South Shore Volunteer Center invites all its partners together with all citizens to make the most of the National Volunteer Week, in order to thank all those involved who give their time to society. The National Volunteer Week is also an occasion to get acquainted to volunteerism, to publicize its many aspects and characteristics, while taking the opportunity to share its various advantages.
