The Compensatory Work Program is intended to humanize the collection of fines by offering adult citizens an alternative to paying off fines they can't afford and by giving them the possibility of doing compensatory work for the benefit of a community based non-profit organisation.
Goals of the Compensatory Work Program
Ensure the collection of fines imposed under bylaws and the laws of Quebec
Humanize the recovery of fines
Avoid the needy incarceration for failure to pay fines
Involve the community in the administration of justice
Contribute to empower the clientele targeted by this program
In addition, it allows the community to save costs in administration of justice while enjoying the work done by the participants in this work program.
Clientele
Participants are adults, 18 years or older, who have little or no income and may be unable to find a job. Our clientele is mostly composed of French-speaking men with a high school education.
Most people referred to C.W.P. are highly motivated and community partners and host organisations are very satisfied with the work they perform.
Organismes d'accueil
The Program is always looking for new community partners for this specific clientele. If your organisation would like more information about the program, please contact the advisors, or consult the document on the responsibilities of the host organisations. You can also complete an application for accreditation and send it to us by fax or by mail.
There are many opportunities for compensatory work, in many organisations: painting, carpentry, housekeeping, night security, janitorial, land maintenance, receptionist, data entry, computer, office, clerical work, etc.
